These fresh disclosures include a glimpse into the mortal existence of a beloved character before his death and condemnation to the underworld.

In the episode, a flashback discloses that popular character Alastor the Radio Demon was a mass murderer in his human life. Being aware he was destined for Hell, he made contact with the afterlife beforehand to obtain a powerful role there. Rosie, who leads the cannibal faction in Hell, promised Alastor he would become “the most powerful Condemned Soul in Hell” in return for his eternal spirit.

This prompts an important query: How is this character powerful enough to elevate Alastor over all other Sinner Demons?

“The agreement between Rosie and Alastor is the initial building block in a much bigger story that involves a great deal, leading into the third season,” the creator states. “Clearly that is an excellent question: How is she so strong? The solution could be various factors, but the revelation is in season three. I'm very excited for fans to see it.”

There’s no telling the duration the audience will have to wait for Hazbin Hotel’s third season. The production companies have green-lit seasons 3 and 4, but the showrunner often notes that animated production is a time-consuming endeavor, and later seasons are undated. Still, she says withholding on specific information is an important part of keeping season 2’s attention in the right places.

“The challenge of any kind of deal with demons, or narratives that have enigmas, is giving people just enough information to be like, Something's up here, and then revealing that as we go, and letting that be gratifying,” she comments. “So I'm very excited.”

Questions Answered in The Next Season

The showrunner assures that the upcoming season will tackle the questions followers have been asking, like why Rosie ordered Alastor to disappear for a seven-year period, which weakened his influence in Hell.

“The entire seven-year span, and the deals these humans are doing, and everything — it's feeding into a bigger narrative,” she reveals.

In the meantime, the origin story episode offers a further look into how the core cast of Demonic Sinners appeared as as mortals, the second after seeing Sir Pentious’ Victorian-era human form in the second episode. The creator explains that significant consideration went into the visual creation of these forms.

“The mortal forms of the characters hold so much weight,” she says. “They range from looking quite distinct from their infernal version to looking very similar. With the first character, the initial design we see, there was a little bit of a debate within the team between choosing a design that represents the character, versus selecting something that's very time-period accurate. We leaned toward creating something that just felt like it was him.”

She mentions the biggest debate over the mortal look of Pentious was his long hair: “We were like, ‘Nobody really had extended hair of that style in Victorian-era London.’ But at the same time, we believe the outline is extremely crucial, and we also just thought he appeared attractive. We were like, ‘This just feels right.’ We sort of provided the rationale that he lived in seclusion, so he just allowed his hair to lengthen. So there's always a way. As we create the mortal forms of these personas […] it's such a fun thing to explore and figure out. I'm excited for fans to view additional of what the human forms look like.”
