Online retailers such as these four major platforms are presently under investigation in the French Republic for the charge of allowing minors to access adult information on their websites, the Paris prosecutor announced on this Tuesday.
The country's consumer protection agency had brought to light the retailers to the prosecution service on Sunday after raising worries about the availability of youth-resembling adult toys on Shein's platform over the weekend.
The Paris prosecutor's office noted that the platforms are being looked into over harmful, adult or unacceptable material that can be seen by minors.
AliExpress stated that it views the matter extremely earnestly. The other retailers have also been contacted for a statement.
These platforms are additionally being examined over the spread of material related to youngsters that are of a adult nature, the office said.
The matters have been handed over to Paris' Office des Mineurs, the investigative team explained. This division is an section of the national police that supervises the welfare of minors.
AliExpress commented that the items in dispute contravened its guidelines and were removed once it became aware of them.
"Vendors discovered to flout or seeking to bypass these policies will be sanctioned in line with our rules," the company stated in a release.
On this Monday, the retailer said it had banned the selling of any intimate products on its marketplace worldwide. The Singapore-based retailer also stated that it would permanently block all seller accounts associated with the unlawful transaction of the minor-looking items and set tighter safeguards on its website.
The national consumer agency, the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control, had said that the products' product information and grouping left "minimal uncertainty as to the illicit nature" of the merchandise.
The investigation of the platform comes as the business, which was founded in the People's Republic of China, makes arrangements for the inauguration on this Wednesday of its maiden permanent physical shop in France.
Activists have been seen gathered in outside the French capital shop where the company is set to establish the location.
The firm aims to inaugurate outlets in further French department stores in urban centers such as Dijon, Reims and Angers.
