The world's beloved pizza-eating superheroes are making their way to Magic: The Gathering. The popular TCG's publisher, the game's creators, announced a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration at a special event hosted at NYCC. Could this be a radical addition or simply another crossover cash grab? We'll let you decide.
Take a look below at everything announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, along with key context. Everything mentioned here releases on March 6, 2026, with one exception — the Pizza Bundle drops a couple of weeks after on March 27.
Before diving into all the various special decks and collections available, we’ll examine at the full lineup from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion unveiled by the developers. Standard booster packs for the set are set at $6.99 each, while premium boosters are priced at $37.99 per booster.
Let's unpack a couple of surprising features. To begin, a new gameplay mechanic called Sneak Attack, which is a riff on the pre-existing Ninjutsu ability, where players can play powerful creatures onto the game field when an attacker goes unblocked. The big difference here is that Sneak can apply to spells that aren’t creatures too. Wizards also used this chance to refine the ability a little (Sneak counts as playing a spell, unlike Ninjutsu). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but it's more likely we'll see the new mechanic in future sets moving forward.
“If we ever go back to the Kamigawa plane, it’s possible we’d use the original ability since that plane is it originated and it’s a hallmark of that world,” a senior game designer stated. “However in other settings, because the rules are cleaner and Sneak will be in standard, it’s probable that we'd use the updated version.”
Another version of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai card, is one of four special cards with special art created exclusively for the set by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles original artist the co-creator.
Additionally, if you're shocked by the rules text on Turtles Forever card, which lets you play cards that aren't in your main deck, many players were. But as per Wizards, that's now a official card in every format of Magic.
Anyway, here are the highly unusual full-art lands from the TMNT set:
Following Wizards of the Coast's current policy, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard format. The designers state they took care to ensure the cards and mechanics meshed well with other Standard sets such as Edge of Eternities.
“I led the design for over a year and we were aware it would be Standard-legal and what other sets would be near it in standard,” a lead designer commented. “Our goal was to ensure that they work well with some of those sets including Edge of Eternities.”
For example, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a blue-red archetype built around artifact cards.
“They mesh together to provide the pieces for a fun Standard-legal deck,” he says.
Following a decision to design any Commander precons for Spider-Man and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, the company is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only a single precon, but it includes six different legendary creatures that can serve as your Commander based on how you combine them (five cards have a special partner ability called “Character Select” that lets you start with two commanders in the command zone instead of just one). Check them out below:
This Commander precon is set at $69.99, though that could easily go up based on popularity. Sources told that it contains 43 brand-new cards altogether, which means an additional thirty-seven TMNT-themed cards in addition to the six legendary commanders shown earlier. (Doing some rough math, that also means about 20 reprinted cards if we estimate the precon comes with 37 land cards.)
What will the TMNT version of Sol Ring appear? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
As per usual, the company is selling a collection. It costs $69.99 and includes the listed items:
This is a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, primarily because it is packaged in a box resembling a pizza box. Each pizza-themed bundle costs $99.99 and comes with the items below:
For those curious what a “Pizza Bundle promo card” means, it’s essentially a reprinted older card featuring brand-new Turtle-themed art. The team revealed one for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of master Splinter sprinkling toppings onto a pizza. There are six distinct pizza promos available.
This special bundle releases a couple of weeks later than the core set on March 27, 2026.
This special bundle is made for a four-player draft and is priced at $119.99. It includes:
Lastly, Wizards are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its ongoing effort to develop Magic game products specifically for new players. Here, Turtle Team-Up is a special set of prebuilt decks that let you and a friend team up to face a “Boss” deck that pilots itself.
The concept here that each Boss card gives special abilities to the creature cards contained in the Boss deck. The Boss automatically plays an additional card per turn, and players begin fighting {one Boss|
