Student a local student was among the countless people attracted to the scene of a tragic fire that ravaged large portions of the multi-block residential estate in Hong Kong's Tai Po area.
At least thirty-six people have perished in Wednesday's destructive inferno to date, with many still not located, leading to expectations that this count will likely grow.
"This is a disaster," Thomas remarked about the blaze, mentioning that he had witnessed a victim being removed from the location.
Over a thousand additional people were required to leave the development as the fire expanded, with some heading to established facilities that have been organized to house them.
The fire is progressively being contained, but authorities state they are uncertain when it will be fully eliminated.
Fire could be observed issuing from specific apartments as many people watched in silence.
"I am overwhelmed. There are so countless neighbors and community members. I cannot comprehend what is going on anymore. Look, all the apartments are just burning. I am unsure what to do. I pray the authorities can assist us to rebuild after this."
An female resident stated that her friends live inside the structure and she was waiting to hear if they managed to evacuate.

An older female who dwells in a unit within the affected structures mentioned she was away when the blaze broke out but that she is concerned about her apartment because it is uninsured.
"I'm very upset that I have nowhere to return to currently," she concluded.
