Charli XCX is gearing up for a substantial cinematic presence in 2026, starting with the fictional documentary titled The Moment.
Throughout the movie, the artist embodies what she calls as a hell version of herself.
It’s the realest depiction of the music industry that I’ve ever encountered, Charli remarked.
She clarified in a discussion: It’s not a tour documentary, but the idea originated from the expectation to create one.
The first teaser, unveiled on Thursday, blends real clips from her live performances with made-up backstage scenes.
The Moment is overseen and co-authored by her collaborator, who revealed that the story centers on a scenario where the artist opted for alternate decisions throughout the publicity of her chart-topping release Brat.
This project is just one of numerous upcoming film appearances for the star, who already featured in three independent movies in the current year.
She also played herself in the Amazon series Overcompensating.
The following year will also include Charli with Olivia Wilde in romantic thriller I Want Your Sex, Natalie Portman in creative industry mystery The Gallerist, and Barbie Ferreira in horror remake Faces of Death.
She also joined to appear in Dakota Johnson’s directorial debut A Tree in Blue.
I’m thoroughly loving my cinematic path, she expressed. I feel very, very inspired right now in that field, and I always aim to pursue things that inspire me.
Next February will also include the release of the director’s version of Wuthering Heights, which will showcase original songs from the artist.
Additionally, she will provide music for the film Mother Mary, with Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, set to be released soon.
The mockumentary will be released on January 30.
