Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for details.
A senior official said the vandalism left him without words and required to be solved quickly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
